In the picture framing industry, a mat is a flat, thin piece made out of linen, fabric or paper included within a picture frame. It serves as an additional decoration and has other, practical functions, such as separating the art from the glass.
In the picture framing industry, a fillet is a small wooden piece that acts as a liner inside a mat, or inside the frame used for decorative purposes.
The mat inside a framed artwork is more important than most people might think. The matting keeps the glass separated from the artwork to don’t stick to the glass, and compliments the artwork. With the color of the mat, you can highlight a subtle color in the artwork.
In the picture framing industry, dry mounting is when the framer uses a heat activated glue to adhere a print or a photograph to a foam board.
Yes, we provide samples, please contact us for a free on-site consultation about your framing project.
Yes, we can. If you're framing a textile or a painting on canvas, we can frame that without acrylic in front. However, if your item is more fragile than canvas or fabric, we do not recommend framing it without acrylic.
If we are framing your art with a mat or as a float frame, we need to use acrylic in order to keep the mat and your art in good shape and clean, so you can enjoy it for a long time to come.
We use only quality products, the best industry-standard materials.
It always depends on what it is. If it is a photograph then we acid-free tape the photo into a mat, with foam board behind it and then we lay that mat under the glass. The photo will not touch the glass. Then it is secured in the frame.
The best way to find the right size of the frame and mat for your art or any other item is to consult an experienced custom framer.
Yes, if you already have the frames we can cut the mat for you.
If the frame is made of wood, we can repair in most cases.
The best option is to consult with an experienced custom framer who can guide you and assist you with selecting the perfect style that reflects your style or your company’s image.
The term preservation framing is used in the framing industry referring to framers who use the best picture framing materials and practices to ensure that the framed artwork will last. For preservation framing, the custom framers use special glass or acrylic, acid-free mat board, and acid-free adhesives.

There are some things you need to know about cleaning the glass, of a framed item. First of all, it depends if it is regular glass or if it is plexi-glass. Plexi-glass has to be cleaned with ammonia-free and non-abrasive cleaner, using a soft lint-free cloth. Clean the regular glass with a soft, lint-free cloth and spray glass cleaner.
If it made of wood yes, we can repair. If it’s plastic or metal we can’t repair.

There are a few reasons to custom frame your artwork:
The right custom made frame complements the furniture in your office. We work with the colors and style you have in your office and compliment it with a frame that will align with the environment and also enhance the artwork that you are framing.
A basic cleaning is to clean your frames every other day with a feather duster, wool duster or with a synthetic duster. Wood picture frames need to be cleaned with a damp cloth or with a wood furniture polish. Metal picture frames can be cleaned with a damp towel. If you are unsure about cleaning your frame, clean first a small part of it.
We can custom build frames to protect and display any 3D object. 3D object framing is not a problem for us, contact us for a free consultation to discuss your requirements.
We can frame 3D in a special frame called Shadow Box. The framing is essentially the same as for 2D items, but it depends on the depth and weight of the item you wish to display.
